2026 In The West – Day 14 – London Bridge Is Falling Down, What???

I started out the day enjoying how the morning sun was brightening the rocks at my campsite and warming the air. Had to keep going so I went to Lake Havasu City for breakfast and to drive over and see the London bridge. Crazy. People called the guy crazy for doing but it has helped to create an oasis in the desert.

So many palms there but knowing that they are not native I asked Gemini if there are any native palms and sure enough they are in the Kofa wildlife sanctuary which I was going to.

But first a stop to see if there were quartz crystals on the crystal hill. I didn’t find any. The hill has been picked over fairly well.

Off to see the palms. Long rough road and upwards hike. Here a few palms in the distance on a cliff. I doubt you can see in the picture. It is the last picture. Good hike up for a leg workout.

Now it was time to take a branch rougher road to the dispersed camping site. Mistake. Pop, the sidewall of one of the new tires was punctured. I pull over to flat ground and begin the spare process. Able to get it on in the middle of the desert. If it did not go well I had a few days of food, water and place to sleep. Got on the road and went to Yuma to have them replace under roadside warranty.

Yuma is a huge farming area with fruits and vegetables. They basically just flood the land to water it. Wild.

Decided to stay in hotel for the night. I need to reorganized and figure new stops on way to Phoenix.
